Maury A. Marmor, M.D
Dr. Marmor was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He was one of ten high school seniors accepted into the Brooklyn College – SUNY Downstate Medical Center seven-year biomedical program, from which he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1980. Dr. Marmor was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society in his junior year of medical school.
Dr. Marmor completed his residency in ophthalmology at Montefiore Medical Center – Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York, and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., under the direction of Marshall M. Parks, M.D. Since 1985, Dr. Marmor has been engaged in private practice limited to pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus in Port Jefferson, N.Y. A second location was established in Plainview, N.Y. in 1988. Dr. Marmor is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Dr. Marmor is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and at the New York University Medical Center. He teaches pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus to the ophthalmology residents at North Shore University Hospital, Nassau University Medical Center, and SUNY Stony Brook. He has many publications in the ophthalmic literature and has lectured locally, nationally and internationally.
Since 1993, Dr. Marmor has donated some of his time away from the practice to work with ORBIS International, teaching surgery and exchanging information with other ophthalmologists around the world. (Go to www.orbis.org to view their website)
Dr. Marmor's personal interests include tennis, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and photography. He lives in East Setauket, N.Y. with his wife, Lisa.
