Richard E. Koty, M.D

Dr Koty was raised on Long Island and spent his undergraduate years at Tufts University. He is a graduate of New York University School of Medicine and did his ophthalmology residency training at St. Luke's -Roosevelt Hospital Center. Following this, he completed an accredited fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Koty was board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1996.

For the past seven years he has served as Assistant Director of the Pediatric Ophthalmology Service and Co-Director of Residency training in the Dept. of Ophthalmology, St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Koty is a special consultant to the Developmental Disabilities Center in Manhattan and the New York Institute for Special Education. He is a surgical delegate with the Healing the Children Foundation, and has participated in medical missions to underprivileged areas of the world. Special interest include childhood and adult strabismus, retinopathy of prematurity, and nystagmus.

Dr. Koty lives with his wife, Michelle, and children, Rachel and Jason, in Old Westbury, NY.
